Judy Whipple

JUDY WHIPPLE

Each sculpted bird and creature of Judy’s has its own unique character and attitude. Judy uses pulp papier-mache as her primary medium and incorporates wire, wood, and found objects to further enhance the form and gesture in her work. Most found objects used as bases (ladders, toys, etc.) have aged beyond their original purpose. With clever manipulation and placement, these objects take on a new life without losing their sense of the past. Judy Whipple’s work is in constant demand and adored by all.

Josh Schwake

JOSH SCHWAKE

Born in northeastern Iowa, Josh Schwake grew up enjoying art class. It was a subject he happily embraced, choosing to study a variety of mediums including ceramics, watercolor, airbrush, and printmaking. Moving to Cedar Rapids, he enrolled at Kirkwood Community College again focusing his studies on art. There he explored photography, glass, oil painting, and advanced ceramics. Now living in Ankeny, Josh can be found working at Tandem Brick Gallery as a framing specialist.

Continuing to pursue his personal interest in art he enthusiastically experiments with a variety of unconventional mediums. In his most recent abstract works coffee grounds, cattle markers, saw dust, and tars are applied with hand made brushes. These paintings combine line, color and shape to convey ideas, feelings, and mood. Additionally, Josh meticulously restores or transforms found frames which he uses to beautifully present his own abstract paintings.
